Tan & Adri

Tan

“I feel like I'm making up for lost time with dancing!”

As a kid, Tan watched Soul Train and American Bandstand dreaming of the day he'd get to dance too — then one college swing dance night changed everything. Riding the late-'90s swing revival, he took his first Lindy Hop class in 1997, was teaching by 1998, and hasn't stopped since, learning from legends like Frankie Manning, Norma Miller, Lennart Westerlund, and Chazz Young. For Tan, it all comes down to connection: with the music, and with your partner.

Adri

“The swing dance community quickly became home.”

Dancing since age five, Adri found Lindy Hop in 2000 and was instantly hooked — from San Diego's original Firehouse to dancing six nights a week in Seattle, where she took a Big Apple class with the legendary Frankie Manning (who told her she was doing her Suzie Q wrong… he was right).

“Tan and I have been friends for more than 20 years. Our partnership is built on trust, laughter, and a shared love for Lindy Hop — and we teach because we're passionate about helping others discover the same joy, connection, and community that swing dancing has given us.”

— Adri

“We both have K–12 classroom teaching experience — it helps us plan, scaffold, and articulate complex topics like dance. We know that dancing brings joy, laughter, and happiness, and we want to get you there!”

— Tan
